In March 2024, the C4U Consortium gathered for their 8th General Assembly in Sheffield (UK) to discuss the progress of the project and pursue exciting conversations about industrial decarbonisation.

Hosted by the University of Sheffield, the C4U General Assembly provided an exciting opportunity for the C4U Consortium to gather and discuss the project’s progress. This meeting came at a crucial time: the project is approaching maturity which means the Consortium has made significant progress towards final findings and can discuss the last push towards the conclusion of the project.

The General Assembly also enabled the Consortium explore the industrial decarbonisation landscape in Sheffield, as a region hosting rapid developments in this field. Our Consortium enjoyed an interactive visit to the facilities of  Translational Energy Research , with whom we discussed their latest work in carbon capture, as well as Factory 2050, a collaborative research facility working with manufacturing partners in a range of sectors.

We also hosted a ‘Workshop on Steel Industry Decarbonisation and Industrial Clusters, where C4U researchers met with Sheffield industry representatives and steel manufacturers for a trusted, open conversation on decarbonisation technologies. We were delighted to discuss these topics with representatives from E.On Energy, British Steel, as well as the Grantham Instituteall of whom provided extremely insights into the reality of industrial decarbonisation in the Sheffield area.
