On 7th of March 2024, researcher Anne Ottenbros (Radboud University) presented part of the C4U project’s work on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies at the 2nd CINEA LCA to CCUS & Alternative Fuels Workshop.

Building upon the learnings from the previous workshop (held in December 2022), this event created a valuable space for CINEA H2020/EU CCUS/Alternative Fuels projects to share their experience and, ultimately, help build a common understanding of the challenges and methods of LCA research in CCUS and alternative fuel projects.

During the workshop, participants heard valuable insights on the challenges of LCA research when faced with various factors, such as low-TRL projects, system boundaries, net-zero scenarios, or benchmarking. This was a great opportunity for discussion and exchange between projects engaged in LCA studies, C4U among them.

Speaking of her experience at the event, Anne Attenbros shared:

‘It was insightful and inspirational to see other CCUS related project in various levels of advancement and discuss the challenges and opportunities of performing LCAs on these technologies. Within C4U, we presented the LCA results on the CASOH and DISPLACE technologies on industrial scale and in a future timeframe, showcasing the challenges of performing prospective LCA.’

We would like to extend our gratitude to the ACCSESS and ConsenCUS projects for their fantastic job as workshop organisers – and to Anne Ottenbros for her fantastic representation of the C4U project.
