On the 13th of June 2024, C4U Project Scientific Manager Richard Porter (UCL) gave an online lecture for students at the University of Technology of Compiègne (UTC), France. Using examples from C4U research, they illustrated the role of Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage in meeting the Paris Agreement goals. This guest lecture is the latest instance of 2 and a half years of collaboration between the C4U project and UTC.

Speaking on the lecture series, Richard Porter shared:
“According to the Global CCS Institute, the European Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) value chain could be worth up to €100 billion by 2030. This will help to preserve jobs in hard-to-abate sectors (such as the steel industry) while also creating new employment opportunities across the CCS value chain, especially for engineers and scientists.”

With the aim of inspiring the next generation of scientists and engineers who will tackle the grand challenge of climate change through working in net-zero industries and R&D, the C4U project continues to contribute to a lecture series for students at the Université de Technologie de Compiègne, on the topic of reducing global warming using Carbon Capture & Storage. These lectures help to raise awareness of critical climate change solutions like CCS, while encouraging involvement in research and innovation. Developing the students’ technical English language abilities is also a parallel aim.

We would like thank UTC for their continued collaboration with our project, which we hope to continue in the coming year.
